Good concise article by Rachel. Fear of socialism overrides everything else for establishment politics. In Labour, socialism's opponents - the majority of its MPs - hoped and assumed he would fail hugely in 2017 and, when he didn't, they focussed on destroying their own party's potential electoral success, and succeeded, as Rachel explained. Establishmentarianism is so embedded in Labour that, even if Labour had won in 2017, (possibly in an alliance with SNP), the wreckers would have wrecked that government from within.
