Nadhim Zahawi cannot tell Burley how many have been quarentined

In a stunning admission to Kay Burley, Nadhim Zahawi admitted Government has no idea how many entering the UK have been quarantined under the new policy. The new quarantine guidelines came into force as part of the Governments fight against the COVID19 pandemic.

Government’s latest rules on the quarantine of people travelling to the UK came into force on Monday. Those travelling to the country must isolate for 14 days on entry.

When pushed on the issue, Zahawi told Burley “Border Force are operationally in charge of this”. He went to claim“people are complying” with the new self-isolation rules.

If Kay Burley keeps this up Government will stop speaking to her.

Zahawi’s lack of data will raise questions about governments commitment to the Quarantine policy; with his comments indicating a lack of enforcement of the Quarantine of travellers.

The system relies on travellers to provide an address where they will self-isolate to UK Border Force; although, currently, there are no checks in place to confirm people are self-isolating. Those travelling from the Republic of Ireland, the Channel Islands, or the Isle of Man do not need to self-isolate.

Zahawi told how that the quarantine policy will be reviewed in 21 days.
