Central London’s most beloved statues and monuments have been boarded up; with Winston Churchill’s statue now hidden behind scaffolding.
The action has been taken in the lead up to another weekend of scheduled Black Lives Matter protest’s. Protests have days protests have focused on statues of historic figures with racist pasts.
The Winston Churchill statue in Parliament Square and the cenotaph on Whitehall are both now behind scaffolding. These actions will undoubtedly protect the monuments; however many opposed to the protests object to the boarding up of the monuments.
